Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative
Marc graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BS degree in Ag Econimics and returned home to Montevideo, Minnesota to farm full time in 1987. His ancestral lineage has been farming since the mid-1700s. At the conclusion of the Civil War in 1865, his great-great-grandfather moved to the Midwest to start a new farm. The family began growing sugarbeets when the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative (SMBSC) opened its factory in 1975; his father was an original shareholder. Today, Marc and his wife, Jan, have three children and grow sugarbeets, corn, soybeans, peas, and sweet corn.
Marc joined the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative in 2008 and has been a member of the ASGA Board of Directors since 2012. He serves on the Finance and International Affairs Committees.
